Well yes, but the opposite of what you said. A 50mm fitted backwards onto another lens, makes a good inexpensive macro lens. (makes small things bigger) You can also just hold it, but if you don't want to do that they make threaded adapters that let you put the lenses together filter side to filter side.

It does vignette something fierce, at least in my setup but nothing some creative cropping can't fix.
