This is part of the $2 Portrait Project. I met Gary on Valencia street, where he was reading a copy of "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T.E. Lawrence. He said he was originally from Alabama, but has lived in San Francisco since the 1970's. He came here to go to school. He talked about his best friend, who lives in Baghdad and is enduring a lot of hardship right now.
