When I was out in the middle of nowhere taking this shot a sheriff saw me and was wondering what I was doing. He pulled up, shined his light on me (there goes my nightvision, I thought) and he said, "Oh, so you're not stuck in a ditch. I'll leave you alone."

I agree, nicely done. Out of curiosity, what kind of tripod do you use?

For this shot I used my telescope mounted on its tripod, but for most night shots I use a Manfrotto 190XPROB with an 804RC2 head. It's the best $200 I've ever spent.

Thanks guys. I used my 100mm refracting telescope using the prime focus method. This effectively made it a 600mm lens.
